The funding will be donated through the Bezos Earth Fund as part of the billionaire’s commitment to spend $10 billion to prevent climate change in this decade.

The billionaire disclosed that his trip to space had given him an understanding of nature’s fragility.

Bezos and other billionaires had previously been criticized for spending money on trips to space rather than solving the earth’s problem.

Amazon had also been called out on different occasions by workers for failing to implement environmental-friendly practices.

Bezos announced this while speaking at the COP26 conference as he bemoaned the state of the environment.

“Each year, forests and landscapes absorb 11 billion tons of CO2 from the atmosphere. As we destroy nature, we reverse this process,”

“In too many parts of the world, nature is already flipping from a carbon sink to a carbon source. This is a profound danger to us all.”
