Do you want to know what is worse than dying poor? Dying poor unaware that you have untouched wealth.
Last year, a homeless woman died in Oregon, unaware that she had an $884,447 inheritance that was yet to be claimed.
Cathy Boone’s mental illness and drug abuse prevented her from knowing that her mother left her huge money after her death in 2016.
Everyone who tried to locate her wasn’t successful till she died in a warming shelter in Astoria.
Her family even put out a newspaper ad and employed the services of a private investigator to no avail.
The money was eventually delivered to the Department of State Lands and it remains there still today.

While speaking about the issue, Department of State Lands spokeswoman Claudia Ciobanu claimed that this is a special case and she sympathised with the family.
It is still unknown what the faith of the inheritance will be but Cathy has two biological children who may have claims to the fortune.
