Samuel Kalu: Another Super Eagles Star Joins Watford

  • Super Eagles forward Samuel Kalu has joined the English premier league with a switch to Watford football club

  • Kalu is the sixth Nigerian club to join the English clubs and will join stars such as Emmanuel Dennis, and Troost Ekong on its roaster

Super Eagles forward Samuel Kalu has completed a move to English Premier League club Watford FC in a deal until June 2025.

Kalu joins from FC Girondins de Bordeaux and completed his deal with Watford on Wednesday, according to a statement on the club’s website.

He becomes the Hornet’s fourth signing in this transfer window as there try to avoid being relegated to the Sky Bet Championship.

Other players to have been signed in this winter transfer window are full-back Hassane Kamara, central defender Samir, and midfielder Edo Kayembe at the Vicarage Road club.

A statement from the club reads:

“Watford FC is delighted to announce the signing of Nigerian international winger Samuel Kalu on a deal until June 2025 from French club FC Girondins de Bordeaux.”

Kalu joins the English league after three-and-a-half successful years in France’s Ligue 1 where he scored 9 goals.

The forward who is capable of playing on either side of the wing joins 5 other Nigerians in the Hornet’s team.

Kalu will wear the number 28 shirt and may get to make his first appearance after the international break.

He was not included in the Super Eagles squad that recently crashed of AFCON 2021 in Cameroon after a loss to Tunisia.
