You can take the man away from a football team but you can’t take football away from the man.
Just over a month after Roman Abramovich was forced to put Chelsea football club up for sale, the Russian oligarch has shown interest in another football team.
A business rival has revealed that the billionaire has put in a bid for Spanish football club, Valencia. Abramovich’s bid was revealed by Spanish businessman, Miguel Zorio who is also planning to buy the team.
Zorio claims that he put in a bid of £207.8 million, but alleges that the club’s current owner, Peter Lim, revealed that he has also received an offer from Abramovich.
Meanwhile, Chelsea is getting closer to being taken over by a new owner. Last month, the club selected four bidders to proceed to the next stage of bidding.

US merchant bank, The Raine Group, which is in charge of the transfer, have given the bidding finalists a chance to finalize their proposal before a winner is selected.
Unlike the bid being put in for Valencia, an acquisition of Chelsea football club will reportedly cost over £2.5 billion. Once completed, it will be the most expensive acquisition of a football team ever.
