The Premier League has announced the suspension of its current broadcast deal in Russia, preventing matches of the league from being televised in the country. The suspension follows many other sanctions imposed on Russia due to its invasion of Ukraine.
The move is set to take effect immediately, which means that the four matches set to be played on Thursday will not be shown. The decision was made in only 15 minutes as all 20 clubs in London on Tuesday agreed to suspend Russia’s broadcasting access.
The English first division has also announced that it will donate £1 million to Ukraine for the support of affected people. The donation will be made to the Disasters Emergency Committee to directly support those in need.

Russia’s broadcast rights for the Premier League was owned by Rambler Group and the company was already in the final year of a three-year contract.
In a similar move, the Football Association has also suspended its deal with Russia, which means that FA Cup matches will not be broadcasted as well. The Premier League also condemned Russia’s invasion of neighbors, a decision that all 20 premier league clubs agree with.
