Cristiano Ronaldo has not had it easy since his return to Old Trafford in the summer of 2021. Despite scoring a couple of goals, the performance of the Portuguese forward has been questioned by many, including Manchester United legend, Wayne Rooney.
Ronaldo’s former Manchester United teammate, Rooney made an appearance on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football, where he criticized the performance of the 5-time Ballon D’or winner.
When Rooney was asked if signing the No.7 last summer had paid off for Manchester United, he replied “No”. According to United’s all-time top goalscorer, Ronaldo is not the player he once was. Rooney also advised United to focus on younger players at the club like Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford.

Cristiano Ronaldo appears not to have taken this criticism lightly as the Portugal national team captain hit back at his former colleague on Instagram.
Rooney posted a photo of himself, Jamie Carragher, and host, David Jones on his official account, relishing in his time at the show. Ronaldo took a dig at him and Carragher commenting “Two jealous”.
