Netflix has become the latest company to pull its services from Russia, following the country’s invasion of Ukraine. A spokesperson for the company announced the development on Sunday afternoon.
“Given the circumstances on the ground, we have decided to suspend our service in Russia,”
The Russian market makes up a small percentage of Netflix subscribers, with under 1 million users of the platform, in comparison to its 222 million total paid memberships globally.
This comes after the movie-streaming service stopped projects and acquisition in Russia when Ukraine was invaded.
Before the invasion, Netflix had four Russian-language series in production and post-production but they have all been put on hold. The company also failed to comply with Russian rules to carry news channels.

Since Russia began its attack in Ukraine, many companies have hard stances against the country in the form of pulling services or barring sales.
Netflix rival, Disney also announced last week that it was pausing all film debuts in Russia and the same sanction was imposed by Warner Bros and Universal.
