Just hours before Ukraine was set to begin the airdrop of the WORLD token, the government has announced that the scheduled giveaway has been canceled. The country’s minister of Digital Transformation, Mikhailo Fedorov announced via his personal Twitter account that the giveaway will not go as planned.
The airdrop which was initially announced via the country’s official Twitter account was planned to support the government’s crypto fundraising efforts by rewarding those who had donated to charities in Ukraine during this time of war.
The WORLD token airdrop was confirmed after the country revealed that more than $33 million has been raised in various cryptocurrencies.
What are Airdrops?
Recently, Airdrops have become a popular tool for token creators to reward early adopters or users of a decentralized platform. The initiative is designed to bootstrap liquidity, and also ensure that a recently launched token is evenly distributed across a wide range of users.
Mr. Federov claims that the WORLD token airdrop was canceled because every day more people are donating to help the country fight Russia’s aggression. According to his statement, the country is now set to announce NFTs to support the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
