An Assistant Commissioner of Police has been sentenced to life imprisonment for purchasing stolen cars from kidnappers in Ekiti State
An High Court in Ekiti State declared the sentence after the prosecuting counsel presented his evidences

A High Court sitting in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital, has today sentenced APC Okubo Aboye, an Assistant Commissioner of Police to life imprisonment for purchasing stolen cars from kidnappers operating in the state.
On Monday, the court also sentenced seven other persons, Solomon Ayodele Obamoyegun (39), Femi Omiawe (40), and Damilola Obamoyegun (20).
Others include Bose Sade Ajayi (30), George Lucky (35), Chukwuma Nnamani (22) and Sunday Ogunleye (45) to each five years imprisonment with no option of fine for kidnapping.
According to the police, the car was tracked down to the residence of APC Okubo who upon interrogation, confessed to securing the vehicles from a link to the kidnappers.
Meanwhile, we reported earlier that the Nigerian government has directed all telecommunication operators to deregister all SIM cards that are not synchronized with the National Identity Number (NIN) by December 30th 2020.
