The World Health Organization’s (WHO) latest report about COVID 19 serves as a morale booster in the battle against the pandemic.
According to WHO’s report on COVID, there was a 10% decline in recorded COVID 19 cases globally in the previous week.
This indicates that between 20 – 26 September 2021, only 3.3 million new cases were recorded, compared to 3.6 million cases recorded in the previous week.
The latest record means that there has been a drop in COVID cases for the third consecutive week, indicating that the pandemic could be on a decline.
In the same vein, deaths from the pandemic have reduced by 10% to 55,000 from 60,000 recorded 2 weeks ago.

In Africa, there have been mixed results in the battle against the pandemic.
Although there was a 12% decline in COVID cases last week, the death toll rose by 5%.
The total number of cases last week was 87,000, while 2500 died from the deadly virus.
The top 3 in cases recorded were Tanzania, South Africa, and Ethiopia with 24,307, 15,627, and 8,842 new cases respectively.
The highest number of deaths ranked South Africa (885), Tanzania (664), and Ethiopia (254).
