Pep Guardiola Tests Positive as COVID 19 Hits Manchester City

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has tested positive for COVID 19, effectively ruling him out of tomorrow evening’s FA Cup trip to Swindon Town.

The club reported that the manager recorded a positive test on Tuesday, alongside assistant Juanma Lillo.

A total of seven first-team players and 14 backroom staff have been forced to self-isolate after recording positive tests.

Former Liverpool coach Rodolfo Borrell is expected to take charge of City’s FA Cup third-round trip to League Two Swindon.

The assistant is might also take the reins when Manchester City welcomes Chelsea to the Etihad on the 15th of January.

A total of 17 English top-flight games have been postponed in the Premier League since December as the League struggles to contain a wave of the Omicron variant.

Between 27 December and 2 January, 14,250 Covid-19 tests were carried out on players and staff in the EPL, and 94 came out positive.
