Nigeria’s COVID 19 Cases Reach 212,947 as Deaths Near 3,000

  • The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) recorded 53 new COVID 19 cases on Thursday
  • The recently recorded case brings the total number of infections in the country to 212,947
  • 11 deaths were also recorded, bringing the death toll from the infection to 2933 since the start of the pandemic

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) reported it recorded 53 new COVID 19 infections on Thursday, bringing the total number of recorded cases in Nigeria to 212,947.

According to the daily report which was released on Friday, the 53 cases were recorded in only 7 states and the FCT.

Lagos led with 19 recorded cases while FCT and Plateau and Rivers had 7 new cases each.

The list is completed by Imo-5, Kano-4, Zamfara-2, Bayelsa-1, and Gombe-1.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Thursday’s 53 cases represent a decrease from the 65 cases reported in Nigeria from Wednesday.

The NCDC’s latest report also showed that 11 new deaths were recorded, bringing the death toll in the country to 2933.

So far the agency reports that 205,000 have been discharged after recovering while 5,297 cases remain active.

Since the start of the pandemic, 3,392,457 blood samples have been tested, representing only a fraction of the population.
