AstraZeneca COVID Vaccine

This was announced by Dr. Olorunimbe Mamora, the Minister of State for Health in an interview with The PUNCH.

Recall that Nigeria received almost 4 million doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine from the COVAX facility.

As Nigeria began the transportation of the vaccine to different states, European countries have proceeded to discontinue the use.

Danish Health Minister suspended the use of the vaccine for 2 weeks after a 60-year-old woman died from a fatal blood clot after using the vaccine.

The country however added that it hadn’t confirmed if there is any correlation between the use of the vaccine and the blood clot.

Spanish Health Minister Carolina Darias also announced that Spain will continue the use of the vaccine since no relation has been established between the vaccine and blood clots.

The Federal Government along with National Primary Healthcare Development Agency have started investigations to determine the side effects of the vaccine.
