The federal government on Tuesday disclosed that the country is close to exhausting its available COVID vaccine.

The Executive Director of the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA), Dr Faisal Shuaib revealed this during a press briefing in Abuja.
Dr Shuaib revealed that 2,495,632 people have received the first dose of the vaccine in Nigeria while 370,130 have received both the first and second dose.

Altogether the country has used 3.9 million doses of the 4,024,000 doses received (96% consumption).
The NPHCDA boss stated that the country is on course to utilize all the doses of the vaccine in the next few days to increase protection in the country.

Dr Shuaib also dispelled rumours that the Astrazeneca COVID vaccine causes the skin to be magnetic in the injected area.

He also disclosed that the country will receive another supply of vaccines in the coming months and the 2nd phase of vaccination will commence.
