Studies have revealed that young men who receive the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine are at a higher risk of developing a rare case of heart inflammation.
Researchers disclosed the result of the study in a meeting of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) advisory committee to discuss the approval of vaccine boosters.
The data presented showed that young men below 30 who receive the Moderna vaccine are at a higher risk of suffering from myocarditis and pericarditis cases compared to those who receive the Pfizer jab.
The report is the first one that shows an increased risk in one of the vaccines over the other.
CDC officials however attest to the safety of the vaccine and still recommend it for use because the benefits outweigh the risks.

The data showed that 36.8 out of every one million men aged 18 to 24 who received the Pfizer vaccine developed heart inflammation. The same was recorded in 10.8 of every one million aged 25 to 29.
The rate was however higher in Moderna recipients, with 38.5 out of every one million males between 18 and 24 and 17.2 of every million between the ages of 25 to 29.
At the age of 29, the risk of developing heart inflammation from the vaccine significantly reduces.
