The Greek government has donated 200 doses of the Johnson & Johnson COVID vaccine to Nigeria to aid vaccination.
The vaccines which are to be received through COVAX will also strengthen relations between the two nations.
News of the delivery was contained in a letter that was sent by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Greece, Nikolaos Dendias and published by Nigeria’s Health Ministry on Tuesday.
The health ministry also stated that vaccination remains the most effective procedure against COVID 19.
The Honourable Minister of State for Health, Dr. Olorunnimbe Mamora has revealed that routine checks by National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) and the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA) will be carried out on the vaccine before they’re accepted.

“We want to be sure that our Agencies are looking at all the necessary indices, we have to ensure the cold chain, the storage, the distribution, and the capacity of personnel that will be involved in carrying out the vaccination.”
Mamora also stated that the country will look out for the shelf life of the vaccines to ensure that they can be used before expiration.
Greece Foreign Affairs Minister said that the COVID vaccine will be delivered through COVAX and should be seen as an obligation rather than a gesture.
