FG Sets COVID 19 Vaccine Deadline for Civil Servants

The Federal Government has announced December 1, 2021, as the deadline for civil servants in Nigeria to receive the COVID 19 vaccine.
This disclosure was made by the Chairman of the Presidential Steering Committee (PSC) on Covid-19, Boss Mustapha during a press briefing on Wednesday.
The PSC boss also disclosed that the Nigerian government had removed South Africa, Brazil, and Turkey from the list of countries where travelers are restricted.
Mustapha who doubles as the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) stated that after the deadline unvaccinated civil servants will be restricted from government buildings.
All government employees will be mandated to either show proof that they have received the COVID 19 vaccine or negative COVID 19 PCR test result done within 72 hours.
“With effect from 1st December 2021, Federal Government employees shall be required to show proof of COVID-19 vaccination, or present a negative COVID-19 PCR test result done within 72 hours to gain access to their offices in all locations within Nigeria and our Missions.”
He revealed that the government will issue a service-wide circular to guide the process nationwide.
The PSC Chairman also urged Nigerians to be vigilant during coming religious holidays (Salah and Christmas) to avoid the spread of the pandemic as traffic increases due to incoming travelers.
According to the NPHCDA, only 7.2 million Nigerians have received at least a dose of the COVID 19 vaccine as the government intensifies efforts to keep the pandemic contained.
