US millionaire Robert Durst has been sentenced to life in prison after being found guilty for the murder of his best friend Susan Berman.

The real estate heir is believed to have killed Berman in 2000 to stop her from talking to the police about his wife’s disappearance.

Authorities found the then 55-year-old woman in a pool of her blood after she was shot in the head in her Beverly Hills home.

Prosecutors called Durst a narcissistic psychopath as he denied killing his best friend.

He was found guilty of first-degree murder and it excludes any possibility of parole which means that Durst is likely to die in prison.

Durst’s lawyers have told the judge that he intends to appeal the ruling.

Durst’s wife Kathleen McCormack went missing in 1982 and is presumed dead but the millionaire was never found guilty of her death.

Prosecutors have argued the millionaire heir is responsible for the death of three people, the third person being an elderly neighbor, Morris Black.

Black discovered Durst’s identity in 2001 when he went to Texas to hide, pretending to be a mute woman.

Robert Durst was however acquitted of murder charges as the court ruled it as self-defense.
