Researchers have found that COVID vaccines are 90% effective at preventing death from the COVID delta variant.

This is according to data that was compiled and released by the University of Edinburgh using a COVID surveillance tool in Scotland.

The research found that the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine is 90% effective while the Oxford-AstraZeneca jab had 91% efficacy against death.

The research studied people who had received double doses of the vaccine but tested positive for the virus.

The study is the first to show how effective the vaccines are at preventing death from the Delta variant across an entire country.

The researchers regarded death from COVID 19 as death from anyone who died within 28 days of testing positive or from complications from the virus.

About 5.4 million Scotland residents were analyzed between 1 April and 27 September this year.

The results showed that 115,000 people tested positive for COVID 19 while 201 died from the virus.

Even more impressive, nobody who received a double dose of Moderna COVID vaccines in Scotland died from the virus, according to the report.
