
COVID Vaccine Made Mandatory For Participants At Nigerian Sport Event
-COVID-19 vaccination has been made compulsory for athletes performing at a major sport event in Nigeria
-Nigerian National Sports Festival begins on Friday in Edo and organizers have made the COVID vaccine mandatory for participants
-The over 8,000 attendees are also expected to have been vaccinated at least 10 days before the competition starts
Participants at the Nigerian National Sports Festival in Edo State will be expected to have a special kind of passport before taking part in the event.

According to the organizers of this sports event, participants and attendees of the event are expected to have been vaccinated at least 10 days before the competition starts.
The rules indicate that any athletes who have not received the COVID vaccine or refuse to collect it will not be allowed to participate.
Deputy Governor of Edo state Philip Shaibu states that athletes and officials would be required to submit their vaccination passports to enter the Athletes’ Village.

The organizers of the event have informed participants that they will be tested 72 hours before the start of the event.
Sports people receiving the vaccine has caused a bit of stir online off late.
Many believe that health workers and security professionals should be the top priority at the moment.

At the time of the last report, Nigeria has used over 25% of its allotted COVID vaccine, vaccinating over 500,000 people.
Altogether, Nigeria has received 3.97 million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine.
