103 Premier footballers and staff have tested positive for coronavirus in the past week, the highest figure recorded in a single week since testing began in May 2020.
The league recently increased testing to daily lateral flow and twice-weekly PCR tests, over fears of the Omicron variant.
Between Monday, December 20 and Sunday, December 26, 15,186 COVID 19 tests were carried out in the league.
The league recently revealed in a statement that it is taking precautionary steps to ensure the safety of the players.
Measures such as wearing face coverings while indoors and observing social distancing have since been imposed.
The latest recorded figures represent an increase from the 90 positive tests that league players and staff had in the previous week.

This has caused many league managers to lament about the impact of the pandemic on their already stretched squads in the festive periods.
Managers are concerned about an increased workload for the players that are fit to play and those that recently recovered from the disease.
