The federal government has approved the administration of vaccine booster shots for Nigerians who are eligible.
The update was given by the Presidential Steering Committee (PSC) on COVID-19 amid the global rise of the Omicron variant.
The Executive Director, National Primary Healthcare Development Agency Dr. Faisal Shuaib also confirmed the decision, stating that it was reached in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Health and the agency.
Dr. Shuaib stated that the booster shots will be administered to people who have received two doses of one of AstraZeneca, Moderna, Pfizer Bio-N-Tech, or one dose of Johnson and Johnson.
Those eligible for this shot are people who are above the age of 18 and received the second dose of AstraZeneca, Moderna, or Pfizer Bio-N-Tech vaccine at least 6 months ago.

Those who received the single-shot Johnson and Johnson vaccine will only be eligible after 6 months.
Shuaib urged Nigerians to take advantage of the opportunity and receive the booster shot, stating that it offers greater protection against the virus.
