The Indian police have reported that over 2000 Mumbai residents were injected with fake COVID 19 vaccine

Another 500 are said to have received fake vaccines in Kolkata India.
The affected residents thought that they were about to receive a real vaccine but instead got injected with saline solution.
Ten people have been arrested in connection to the crime, including two doctors who work in a private hospital.
The Kolkata police department also arrested a man who took the identity of a civil servant with masters degree in genetics to run fake vaccination camps.
About 250 people who received the vaccine in Kolkata were either disabled or transgender.
Amikacin Sulphate 500 mg, an antibiotic used to treat bacterial infection was what was being administered in Kolkata.

The culprits reported printed a Covishield vaccine label and placed it over the Amikacin Sulphate label.

The scam was eventually discovered by actress Ms Mimi Chakraborty who got vaccinated at one of the camps and reported to the police.

A Kolkata health official Dr Debashis Barui has promised that medical camps will be organised for those who received the fake vaccine.
