
COVID 19 Vaccine: 2.2 Million People Have Received the First Dose

The National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA) has announced that 2,265,805 people have been vaccinated with the first dose of the COVID 19 vaccine while 1,175,341 people have received the second dose.

This indicates that 3.4 million doses of the Oxford AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine have been consumed.

The news was passed by the NPHCDA boss, Dr Faisal Shuaib while speaking at the COVID-19 Presidential Steering Committee on Monday in Abuja.
Dr Shuaib stated that the country has exhausted 88% of its total stock of COVID vaccines out of the acquired 4 million doses.
“I am glad to inform you that 3.4 million doses have so far been utilised for the 1st and 2nd dose vaccinations, which is approximately 88 per cent of the total AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine stock in the country”.
Dr Shuaib also revealed that Nigeria continues to maintain the highest vaccination rate on the continent by vaccinating 87,000 people daily.

NPHCDA boss assured listeners that the country is yet to record any death from the adverse effect of the vaccine like in some other countries.

He finally also announced that the Federal Government was in the process of acquiring 29,850,000 doses of the Johnson & Johnson COVID 19 vaccine through the African Union Commission.
