The update was shared by the executive director of the agency Faisal Shuaib, on Thursday while he was speaking at a virtual NEC meeting.

Shuaib disclosed that more than 100 million COVID 19 vaccines had been delivered to Nigeria from COVAX, AU, and some other countries.

He added that the received vaccines will be enough to ramp up vaccination and ensure that 50% of adults aged 18 above are vaccinated.

A part of Shuaib’s statement can be seen below:

“The total eligible population of Nigerians for the vaccine is over 111 million. Given the availability of vaccines, we have started rolling out a plan to vaccinate 50 percent of Nigerians, 18 years and above by Jan. 31, 2022.”

The NPHCDA boss also revealed that the agency will be scaling up health facilities nationwide to ensure that the target is met.
