COVID 19: Lagos State Government Warns Incoming Travelers Who Refuse to Isolate
The Lagos State Government announced that 119 in-bound passengers travelled from high-risk countries (Turkey, Brazil, India) who are refusing to be isolated after returning to Nigeria.
In lieu of this, the Lagos State Government urged the families of the 119 in-bound passengers that refused to be isolated to encourage their loved ones to make themselves available for testing and isolation.
This information was made known on Sunday, May 20, 2021, by Prof. Akin Abayomi (Lagos State Commissioner for Health) during a press statement titled
“Update on the COVID 19 response, vaccination strategy and the implementation of the new guideline to enforce mandatory isolation for travellers in Lagos State.”
He stated that Lagos State accounts for more than 95% of the in-bound passengers that arrive in Nigeria, and since the beginning of the new guidelines and ban placed on foreigners travelling from the 3 high-risk countries, the state recorded about 568 in-bound passengers from the 3 high-risk countries who have been permitted to enter into Nigeria.

Also, he said that 433 passengers have already been isolated in several accredited hotels and facilities in Lagos State.
262 passengers are currently in isolation and 154 passengers who had negative COVID 19 test results have been discharged.
This includes the 9 passengers who test positive to COVID 19 have been successfully isolated to prevent widespread community transmission.
