COVID 19 cases in Nigeria are on the rise, just two days after Nigeria recorded its first case of the Delta variant.

COVID 19 Cases in Nigeria

Cases have consistently been on the rise since Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) announced the first case of Delta Variant.

Nigeria reported 110 cases on Wednesday, 145 on Thursday and 186 total cases on Friday.

According to the latest update from the NCDC, the total number of cases in Nigeria is 168,442 while the death toll sits at 2,122.

Friday’s new cases were recorded in 3 states of the country- Lagos, Rivers and Gombe.

Lagos recorded 175 out of the total 186 cases while Rivers and Gombe recorded 8 and 3 cases respectively.

Naija FM reported that the country recorded its first case of the Delta variant.

This variant of the virus is highly transmissible and is reportedly responsible for the spike in COVID-19 cases in many countries.
