An Australian church had been arrested for breaking COVID 19 protocols by holding a service for a large congregation during the lockdown.
Reports have shown that this Australian church is part of Pastor Chris Oyakhilome’s Love World Ministries, popularly known as Christ Embassy.
Police arrived at the church based in Sydney on Sunday morning after being tipped off by residents of the neighbourhood.
They discovered that over 60 people were in attendance and each person was fined $720 for flouring COVID 19 protocol and the church was fined $3,000.
Gladys Berejiklian, premier of New South Wales state slammed the church for putting the lives of many at risk.
“It is always disheartening and disappointing when you see people blatantly take it upon themselves to contradict what we know works, to contradict what we know is keeping people out of the hospital,”
Australia’s largest city Sydney is currently on stay-at-home orders after an outbreak of the delta variant resulted in a drastic rise in cases.
Meanwhile, this is not the first time that Christ Embassy will be fined for breaking COVID 19 rules. Earlier this year, the broadcasting channel was fined for spreading false information about the pandemic in the UK.
