So far, 5,770,899 eligible people have received the first dose of the vaccine as the health agency sets a target for 100 million people before the end of 2022.

The plan was disclosed in a press briefing on Monday by the Director, Planning Research and Statistics of the NPHCDA, Dr. Abdullahi Bulama Garba.

Me Garba confirmed that the figures were accurate up to November 7th, 2021, adding that 8 million doses of vaccine were in the country at the moment.

To achieve herd immunity, the agency wants to vaccinate 40% of the 200 million population before 2021 ends and 70% before the end of 2022.
