Former Manchester United midfielder David Beckham has signed a £150 million deal to become an ambassador for Qatar.
The deal which extends over 10 years will see the former England captain become the face of the 2020 world cup in Qatar.
The Sun reported that the former football star flew to Doha earlier this month for a week to have a meeting with the country’s dignitaries.
Beckham was assured by the officials that fans will be able to display rainbow flags to promote sexual equality.
Qatar has come under fire severally for its treatment of women and gay people in the country.
According to an undisclosed source, David Beckham believes in Qatar’s commitment to progress and sees football as an opportunity to bridge cultural differences.

A spokesperson for the former footballer said:
“David has always talked about the power of football as a force for good on many levels.
