Twitter Set to Launch Long-awaited Bitcoin Feature

The crypto community is excited as Microblogging platform Twitter announced plans to integrate Bitcoin into its system.

The product lead of the company Kayvon Beykpour has disclosed that the social media platform is working on integrating Bitcoin’s Lightning Network.

This latest announcement is coming after Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey announced that BTC is an important part of the company’s future.

The Lightning Network which was developed by Lightning Labs is more effective at transaction processing than Bitcoin’s main blockchain.

BTC’s Lightning Network will reportedly be integrated with Twitter’s Tip Jar feature to allow people to send a small amount of money as a tip to another.

Beta testing of Tip Jar is currently being carried out and it allows select users to send money using payment platforms like Bandcamp, PayPal, Cash App, Patreon, and Venmo.

Upon the full launch of the program, users will be allowed to link their Bitcoin addresses to their profiles.

Crypto platform Strike is developing the required infrastructure and will support Bitcoin as legal tender on Twitter.

Meanwhile, the world’s largest cryptocurrency Bitcoin is trading at $50,500 as Ethereum also crossed the $4,000 mark.
