Police in Jiangxi, and eastern province in China have recovered $460,000 (2.96 million) worth of Bitcoin that was stolen by a hacker.

The thief was arrested in Xiushui County on April 20, following an inter-provincial investigation.
The police began the investigation after a man called “Shan” reported that his email account linked to a crypto trading wallet containing 8.26 Bitcoins had been hacked.
The hacker, Zeng tried to cover his tracks by linking the email to over 20 phone numbers that he obtained illegally.

Police managed to track and arrest him via big data screening and he is set to be arraigned in court.
This is not the first case of crypto theft in China in recent times, $3 million worth of crypto was also obtained using hacking software.
Cryptocurrency has not been fully embraced in China due to the government’s fear of financial risk and its use for criminal activities.

Although the country was one as a hotspot for crypto trading, a 2017 ban has since forced Bitcoin operations to other countries.
