Workers of NIMC Suspends Strike, Set To Resume Monday

Staff of the National Identity Management Commission NIMC have called off the strike embarked upon yesterday.

This decision was made know on Friday in Abuja by Asekokhai Lucky, representing the Commission’s staff

The strike was initiated on Thursday and amongst their grievances was government’s refusal to provided PPE to safeguard them from COVID-19 as they register Nigerians for NIN

Staff of the National Identity Management Commission NIMC have announced the suspension of the industrial action which they embarked upon on Thursday January 8 over the fear of COVID-19.

It was reported that the workers decided to call off the strike after an emergency meeting with the representative of the Federal Government.

It was gathered that the meeting yielded some positivity and it was agreed that the demands of the employees would be addressed immediately.

Confirming the decision, the NIMC unit President, Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria Asekokhai Lucky , confirmed the suspension of the strike to our newsmen in Abuja, the nation’s capital.

He confirmed that workers of the commission have been contacted to resume work by Monday and continue the enrolment of Nigerians for National Identity Numbers.

Meanwhile, we reported that Mrs Yemisi Edun has just been appointed as the acting Managing Director of First City Monument Bank (FCMB) after being an executive director on the bank’s board.
