Police Refused To Present Sowore And Others For Bail Hearing

Tension brewed in Court as arrested activist, Omoyele Sowore and others were it presented in court for their bail application

The incident happened at the Wuse, Zone 2, Magistrates’ Court Abuja as the police refused to produce Sowore


The magistrates had previously remanded the activist and others and set Friday for their bail hearing.


There was chaos in within the court premises in Abuja as persecuting police refused to present human right activist and social critics, Omoyele Sowore and four others for their bail hearing.

The hearing was scheduled to commence at 11am on Friday at the Wuse, Zone 2, Magistrates’ Court Abuja, but the police refused to present the accused.

Mabel Segun-Bello, the presiding Magistrate, had on previously on Wednesday, January 5 ordered the activists be remanded at Force Criminal Investigation Department, located at Area 10 pending when their bail application would be heard on Friday.

It was reported that the police refused to present the activists in court following a signal that their case files of the activist had been transferred to the Deputy Inspector-General of Police.

According to the defence lawyer, Marshal Abubakar,  the government is instigating the fiasco to continue to keep the activist frustrate his bail application.
