Davido has opened up about the planned collaboration with Wizkid in an interview as he reentered the battle between them.
While speaking with Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, Davido talked about the notorious rivalry and his relationship with Wizkid and how a music album and tour they had agreed to organize fell apart.
“I’ve tried to do an album with Wiz,” He told Ebuka. “I’ve tried to do a tour with Wiz. Like we’ve spoken about it.”
The pair had for years been locked in a heated beef in terms of their individual international brands recognition as well as musical accomplishment. With a growing internet fan base taking sides, the battle of supremacy raged for years and got to it peak at the One Music Festival in Dubai where both Wizkid and Davido’s crew clashed.
It could be recalled that Davido and Wizkid later embraced and performed together at Wizkid’s concert few months later in December 2017 at Eko Convention Center in Lagos, but that brief harmony did little to quench the fire.

He acknowledged that Wizkid was a major motivation in his decision to make an entry into the Nigeria music scene. The “FIA” singer disclosed that he first had a close contact when Wizkid was invited to his father’s yearly Christmas party and they became friends.
However, Davido admitted that his growing fame after he released his first album Omo Baba Olowo. which was very successful evidently threatened Wizkid’s dominance, hence the acrimony.
The duo became friends, however, according to the “Blow My Mind” singer things started getting competitive around the time he released his first album “The fans don’t make it easier,” Davido admitted.
He added that Wizkid’s team Starboy and 30BG “were meant to sit down and have a general meeting and sort every problem possible” however, the meeting didn’t happen.
“I love Wizkid bruh. I know he loves me too,” Davido added.
