Uzor Kalu set to buy 35% stake in English club, Arsenal

Nigerian politician, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu has shown interest in buying a majority stake in Arsenal Football Club, a bid that is reported to be about 35% of the club ownership.

The former Abia State Governor and business mogul, who according to international business magazine, Forbes, has a combined net worth of $1.1 billion recently indicated his intentions to add the Premier League outfit to his conglomerate.

The African Pillar of Sports wrote in a tweet via his official Twitter handle @OUKtweets on Monday evening:

Senator Kali is widely known for founding Slok Holding, a West African group of companies with interests in shipping, banking, oil trading, manufacturing and media.

It can be recalled that Orji Kalu, who currently serves as the Senator representing Abia North district in the 9th National Assembly was convicted and sent to jail on corruption charges brought on him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commissions (EFCC) for offences he committed during his administration as governor of Abia State.

Arsenal are currently owned by Stan Kroenke, through his Kroenke Sports & Entertainment group, with the American having come in for widespread criticism in recent years.
