Twitter Tip Jar Launches Ethereum Wallet Tipping
-
Social media giant Twitter has disclosed that it is set to add Ethereum wallet addresses to available modes for receiving tips
-
This means that creators on the platform can now receive Twitter Tip Jar tips in both Bitcoin and Ethereum
-
The tipping feature will also support ERC-20 tokens and Ethereum-based stablecoins
Even though Twitter’s former CEO and founder Jack Dorsey is openly a Bitcoin maximalist, the social media platform is showing that its cryptocurrency integration will not be limited to the flagship cryptocurrency alone.
On Wednesday, the payment company announced the introduction of a number of new payment options for its Twitter tip jar feature, and the Ethereum wallet address was included. This means that creators on the platform now receive tips from fans in the form of ETH.
In addition to that, the company will now support payments through international fintech providers such as Paga, Paytm, and Barter by Nigeria’s Flutterwave. This means that the social media’s tipping feature will be extended to users in Nigeria, India, and Ghana.

The followed follows Twitter’s recent exploration of the Ethereum ecosystem after the company launched NFT verification of Twitter Blue subscribers last month. According to CoinDesk, the company’s new feature will not support Ethereum Name Service (ENS) domain names. However, tipping with ETH and ERC-20 tokens will be fully supported. A spokesperson for the social media giant also confirmed that the wallet support is available to all users that agree to the company’s tipping policy, rather than only creators and influencers in the past.
