African telecommunication giant MTN has revealed that it has changed its logo as part of a revamped brand identity. The company unveiled a new logo on Wednesday that features the iconic yellow background, with the major change being the dropping of the oval-shaped blue background and the red accent. Now the letters in the logo are all in black but remain framed in an oval shape.

In a statement that was released on the same day, the company revealed that a new brand identity will be revealed on 27th February. The statement adds that the new logo aligns with the company’s “Ambition 2025” when it plans to evolve into a technology firm. The popular telecom company also revealed the development of its fintech and digital services platform.

Ultimately, the operator which was founded in 1994, will now split into different businesses, with one part dedicated to infrastructure assets. Since making its debut, 28 years ago, MTN has made great inroads in Africa, becoming one of the continent’s biggest telecommunication companies.
This also follows that the company is exiting the Middle East to focus on African markets after recently packing up in Syria and Yemen.
