Twitter Blue Launches: Pay $3 to Access Exciting Features

On Tuesday, Twitter launched a new subscription service for users in the United States and New Zealand.

The product termed Twitter Blue was being tested among Canadian and Australian users since July but will now extend to users in other regions.

The company has disclosed that the subscription product will cost $2.99 monthly and is available for iOS, Android, and Web users.

Twitter Blue will come with special features for its users, such as the ability to edit a tweet and also customize the icon of the app.

Users who subscribe to the new product will be able to access the platform without ads, unlike non-subscribers.

The use launch of the product comes with the added advantage of access to more than 300 U.S news websites such as The Washington Post and Insider.

This however doesn’t include articles that are paywalled on those platforms, according to a spokesperson for the company.

With Twitter Blue, the microblogging platform is attempting to diversify its stream of income after setting a goal to reach 315 million monetizable daily active users by 2023.

According to Twitter’s third-quarter earnings report, advertising makes up more than 89% of the company’s revenue.
