The Lagos State Government is set to collaborate with Google and Facebook to produce the biggest technology hub in West Africa.

This innovation is part of the Lagos state government’s plan to massively boost the level of its performance in providing good technology infrastructure and enlarging the tech space to take in more startups.

Babajide Sanwo-Olu (Lagos State Governor), made this known on Wednesday, June 2, 2021, when he took a visit to two major innovation and technology hubs in Lagos State.

Sanwo-Olu visited Impact Hub in Ikoyi and Venia Hub in Lekki with Mr Hakeem Fahm (Commissioner for Science and Technology) and Olatunbosun Alake (Special Adviser on Innovation and Technology), where he met with many startups in the ecosystems to have a discussion concerning increasing funding opportunities and infrastructure development in the State.

Sanwo-Olu described technology as the new oil and gas for the state, which will rapidly produce jobs and wealth for the youths and also boost the status of the State to achieve the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

Governor Sanwo-Olu also made it known that K.I.T.E (Knowledge, Innovation, Technology and Entrepreneurship), the Yaba Technology Cluster will be available to startups as a free zone to help in increasing funds and financing for the innovative ideas that will be generated by entrepreneurs in the tech sector and also in FinTech. He also added that the ecosystem will provide free labs for startups to enable them to take their innovations from being an idea to the next stage.
