Former president of the United States Donal Trump has launched his own social media platform, called ‘Truth social’ in an attempt to compete with big tech companies such as Facebook and Twitter.

Truth Social

The launch of the app comes just over a year after he was banned from major social media platforms for using his accounts to instigate a riot at the Capitol building on January 6. The riot resulted in the death of more than 5 people, and social media platforms such as Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube kicked him off.

As reported by Naija FM over the past few months, Truth Social has been in development for a while now as the former POTUS plans to use it to bolster his aim at the 2024 presidential election.

The social media platform which shares a striking resemblance with Twitter was launched on Apple’s App Store on Sunday night although downloads are only limited to the United States at the moment. Reports claim that users who had pre-ordered the app, automatically had it downloaded to their phones.

Truth Social operates under the Trump Media and Technology Group and was created through a merger with DIgital World Acquisition Group. Features that have been discovered on the app so far are direct messages, a block button, and notifications for updates.
