It appears that the Inspector-General of Police, Muhammad Adamu has been asked to handover by President Buhari.
Adam marked his 35 years of service on Monday and it was expected that he would hand over to the most senior officer.
The IGP failed to do that and this led to speculation that he would be granted additional time in office.
On Tuesday, Adamu was at the Nnamdi Azikwe Airport in Abuja to welcome the President after his trip to Daura.

It is believed that upon his arrival, Buhari ordered the IGP to handover at his welcoming.
Adamu was waiting for a directive from the President as it would have appeared inappropriate to handover without a presidential directive.
IGP Adamu is expected to hand over to the most senior deputy inspector-general of Police.
They have been speculations around the country that AIG Zanna Ibrahim may be appointed the next IGP.
This was as a result of a celebration at Nigerian Police Academy, Wudil, Kano State.
Adam was appointed the inspector-general of the police on 15 January 2019 by President Muhammadu Buhari.
He replaced Ibrahim Kpotun from Niger state who held the seat for 3 years.
