12 Shops Burnt Severely In Lagos By Fire From Power Surge

 

Over 12 shops have been destroyed by fire in Ijesha Surulere, Lagos.

It was reported that the huge fire which happened on Saturday January 16 was as a result of a power surge

The fire incident occurred around 6:30pm and the Lagos State Fire Service arrived moments later.

  In Ijesha area of Surulere, there was a huge fire resulting from a suspected power surge that destroyed over 12 shops. On Saturday, January 16, the inferno from the fire power surge affected business activities in the area as fire service battled with the situation. Mrs. Margaret Adeseye, the acting Head f rhw Lags Fire and Rescue Service made this disclosure on Saturday. According to her, a distress call was received at about 6:30pm from 1, Market Road, Ijesha Street, Surulere. Immediately fire stations at Isolo and Bolade Fire Stations were promptly deployed to rescue the situation and they successfully put out the fire at the incident scene,” Adeseye further explained that on arrival at the location, the team of firefighters discovered that the residential building had 12 shops attached to it and all were already burnt severely. Meanwhile, we reported earlier that the Nigerian government has directed all telecommunication operators to deregister all SIM cards that are not synchronized with the National Identity Number (NIN) by December 30th 2020.
