The team will consist of eight ministers and it will be headed by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo
On Tuesday, July 22 President Muhammadu has inaugurated the National Poverty Reduction and Growth Strategy (NPRGS).
The Poverty reduction committee which is headed by the Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo is aimed at alleviating poverty and boosting the country’s economy.
During the launch of the committee, Buhari revealed that NPRGS was borne out of his commitment to lift 100 million Nigerians out of poverty in the next 10 years.
“This journey began in January 2021 when I directed the chairman of the Presidential Economic Advisory Council and Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) to collaboratively work together to articulate what will lift 100 million Nigerians out of poverty in 10 years.“
President Buhari added that the committee will be backed with funds and a framework for implementation.

President Buhari used India as an example, stating that if the Asian countries can alleviate poverty among 271 million people between 2006 and 2016, Nigeria can do the same.
The committee will also include President Buhari’s chief of staff and one governor from the six regions.
