
Panic as Petrol Tanker Explodes in Abeokuta

A tanker transporting petrol exploded at Oju Irin in Lafenwa area of Abeokuta, Ogun state on Sunday morning.
The incident was confirmed by Mr. Babatunde Akinbiyi, the Spokesperson, Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE).
Akinbiyi stated that the petrol tanker overturned around 4:45 am today at Oju-Irin, Lafenwa, due to an axle problem and spilled fuel to the road.
The explosion happened when people in the axis gathered to scoop fuel from and around the tanker.
The TRACE spokesman advised the public to stay away from the vicinity as TRACE and police, and Fire services make efforts to get the situation under control.

Akinbiyi promised to share further information with the media as soon as it has been gathered.
So far, no report has been given on fatalities but pictures and videos show that many shops were engulfed in the fire.
