Nigerian music star Lanre Fasasi, popularly known as Sound Sultan has passed away after an illness.
Naija FM had reported a while back that the musician was suffering from throat cancer.
During this period, he was wished a speedy recovery as other news outlets claimed that he was flown abroad for Chemotherapy.
The musician took some time to address the rumours during this year’s Eid-al-Fitr.
In a long post on Instagram, the musician appreciated everyone who wished him a speedy recovery.
He promised to give an update about his health circumstance in due course but failed to approve to debunk the rumours that he had cancer.
Sound Sultan, 44 was one of the early singers of new school Nigerian music.
The singer burst into the scene with his single “jagbatanis” in the 90s and he followed it up with other songs that addressed political issues.
