– IGP Mohammed Adamu has disclosed that the police will never tolerate violent protest again anywhere in the country.
– He made this statement during a courtesy visit to the Ebonyi State Police Command on Tuesday.
– He said that government have responded to the demands of #ENDSARS, hence no need for the continuous street demonstration.
Mr Mohammed Adamu, the Inspector-General of Police, on Tuesday said the Nigerian Police Force would not be tolerating any form of violent protests in the country again.
He also noted that the #ENDSARS protests were targeted at the federal government, stressing that the demands of the protesters with regards to police brutality and the disbandment of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad,a unit of the police notorious for torture, extortion and murder has already been met by the government.
The IG disclosed this on Tuesday, during his visit to the Ebonyi State Police Command. According to him, the protests were not against police brutality, but the government of Nigeria. He added that despite government’s swift decision to ban SARS, protesters still went about destroying government assets.
The IGP made it clear that never again will the Nigerian Police tolerate and accept that level of violent protest against the state. He added that the police would not restrain from using maximum force if any protest turn violent.
