On Thursday, Abulrasheed Maina, The former Chairman of the defunct Pension Reform Taskforce Team who is facing money laundering charges, collapsed during trial at the Federal High Court Abuja

Maina who is facing a 12-count charge brought against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, collapsed moments after proceedings was resumed in the court.

Maina slumps in court

The defence lawyer, Barr Anayo was in the process of making his submission with regards to the no-case application he intends to file when his client, Maina, suddenly lost balance and slumped beside the dock where he sat.

The development made the trial judge, Justice Abang suspend sitting as some court officials and lawyers quickly rushed to the aid of Maina.

In the charge marked FHC/ABJ/CR/256/2019, EFCC alleged that Maina had used a bank account that was controlled by his firm and laundered monies of about N2billion, part of which were used to acquire real estate properties in Abuja.
