Ondo State government have ordered all herdsmen in the state forest reserve to vacate them with immediate effect.
According to Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, the government is taking major steps in addressing the cause of kidnapping in the state
Kidnapping has recently become in menace in he southwest with major forest reserve becoming hideout for criminals.
The Ondo State government is taking major steps to address the rising spate of kidnapping within the state.
In a press briefing by the governor, Rotimi Akeredolu several measures were been put in place to arrest the situation.
Akeredolu announced new statewide policy that would help the government figure out the root cause of the problem of insecurity and especially kidnapping for ransom.
From investigation, the governor disclosed that these unfortunate events were traced to herdsmen who uses the state forest reserve to hide their victim and demand for ransom.
Hence, the following orders are hereby issued by the governor.
1. All Forest Reserves in the State are to be vacated by herdsmen within the next 7 days with effect from today, Monday 18th January, 2021.
2. Night-grazing is banned with immediate effect because most farm destruction takes place at night.
3. Movement of cattle within cities and highways is prohibited.
4. Under-aged grazing of cattle is outlawed.
Meanwhile, we reported earlier that the Nigerian government has directed all telecommunication operators to deregister all SIM cards that are not synchronized with the National Identity Number (NIN) by December 30th 2020.
