Kaduna State University tuition fees were drastically increased from N24,000 and N26,000 to N150,000 to N500,000 by the state government on Thursday.

The increase has come at a time when many are still suffering from the effects of Coronavirus and as such it has been criticized and rejected.
A press release from the student union of the University claims that many students will be unable to afford it since they don’t come from wealthy homes.

According to a student of the school, the fees were increased from N26,000 to N150,000 for students in the Faculty of Arts, Management, and Social Sciences.
Students in the Faculty of Medicine also had their fees increased from N24,000 to N300,000 for indigenes and N500,000 for non-indigenes.
A letter was addressed from the Student Union to Governor Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai but is yet to receive a response.

The school claims that part of the reason for increasing the tuition fee was to create a more conducive atmosphere for learning.
